Prior to having bariatric surgery, Marlene had many health issues which negatively affected her quality of life. Her health and quality of life have improved significantly since her surgery. Read Marlene’s story from her point of view.
I had many health issues that, at least to me, were a problem. I couldn’t walk more than 50 feet without stopping to catch my breath. I coughed constantly from acid reflux, I had incontinence and several other problems. My blood pressure always seemed to be high. I couldn’t even bend down to put on my socks or tie my shoes.
Since my surgery, none of these problems exist anymore. In fact, my cardiologist told me last month he never wanted to see me again in his office. He said the problem I originally came to him for no longer exists!
Before surgery, I couldn’t wait to have it done. After surgery it was a new learning curve for me –learning how to eat healthier.
My life has drastically changed since my bariatric surgery. I enjoy shopping for new clothes that actually fit me, and have lots of new friends too. I’ve inspired many people that are obese or morbidly obese to have this surgery.
This past weekend I actually walked through Caw Caw County Park and Winter Wonderland at James Island County Park, and was able to keep up with my 11 and 13 year old granddaughters.
